  • Who is Joanna?

Tue 31 Oct 2017 Mr Duke

We had an incredible start to the term today. Rev Mark contacted the school to inform us that he had discovered letters within the pages of the church log books. Dated 1915, the letters appear to have been written by an 11 year old orphan called Joanna. Travelling alone, she slept within the walls of local churches whilst searching for a medal that belonged to her Grandfather. She was also hoping to find out about the lives of her parents. She had left sketches and photographs in the aumbreys of the churches which were discovered by Rosie Pearson and Charlie Cant.  Children from Laughton also found another incredible discovery in the church grounds...

After visiting the church, the children were buzzing with ideas when they returned to school. I wonder what will happen next?

  • Head's Together

Wed 04 Oct 2017 Mr Duke
Thank you so much to the parents who were able to meet with me on Tuesday. I hope that those there found the 'Together' to be positive and that I was able to answer your questions. I enjoyed meeting you all and will take the ideas you shared to the senior leadership team and consider steps forward. Look out for the next Head's Together in Term 2.
