Leave of Absence

Amendments to The Education (Pupil Registration) Regulations 2006 with regards to leave of absence in term time were made from September 2013. It used to be the case that the school could grant a leave of absence for pupil holidays during term time in special circumstances. As parents know, we discourage this but understand that sometimes an individual pupil’s circumstances are sufficiently special to authorise the absence. However, the Regulations from 2013 changed this and the school is now prevented from granting any leave of absence except in exceptional circumstances. Family holidays, reunions, special birthdays and other family events are not considered exceptional and so we are not be able to grant leave of absence for such events.

 

If you would like to request authorised leave for your child, please write a letter in advance to the Head teacher explaining the exceptional circumstances.
