Over £200 was raised at the ‘Friends of the School’ Quiz Night this month. On top of recent successes including the tea-towel idea, the fund is increasing significantly. Thank you to all for organising and attending. Mr Duke will be meeting with the team soon to share ideas for how the school could benefit from the fantastic fundraising.
Plans are afoot for a number of fundraising events in the Summer Term, culminating in our Summer Fayre in July. Details will be added here.
We are delighted that Blyton Park (@BlytonParkDC) are sponsoring our new sports jackets for children to wear when they represent the school. Their kind donation, to be matched by the FoS, will ensure our sporting superstars look fantastic when they visit other schools.
They are also donating towards our outdoor learning area at Blyton, which will contribute greatly to each child's experience.

The Friends are in the process of putting together all of the presents ready for our Secret Santa day on the 4th December. Children will have the opportunity of bringing in £3.50 and select gifts for a loved one. The Friends will help the children wrap the gift ready for Christmas.
Thanks to the Friends for all the preparation which is going into the Christmas Fayre too.

An enormous thank you to all of our 'Friends' for helping us run the very successful MacMillan Coffee Events. Your help was much appreciated and helped to create a wonderful atmosphere raising money for a most worthy cause.
Mr Duke met with members of The Friends of Blyton cum Laughton today to begin planning events for the forthcoming year. We look forward to sharing the news from the meeting shortly and to working closely with the Friends in the coming months.
It was decided that we will be focusing on raising money for a specific goal over time, enabling the school to acquire wonderful quality educational equipment for the classroom or outside learning areas. The running total from donations will be displayed at each site to ensure you are all up to date with how close we are to the goal. If you think back to the days of the Blue Peter Totaliser - it will give you an idea!
Thank you in advance for your help and support.
We would like to thank everyone for a great Summer Fayre: all the children (especially the School Council and Year 6 Clover Class who helped us set up), DJ Henry, helpers, staff (especially Mr Duke for being so happy to get wet, and for being so kind to look after some of the money), all those who donated prizes (mums, dads, friends and local businesses), the bakers and the spenders, we couldn't have done it without you. You helped us raise a massive £844.40.
We have decided we'd like to build on this success by forming a proper 'Friends of the School' committee. We will be having a meeting in September for all those parents that would like to get involved organising regular events throughout the year.
We don't want to continually ask people for money, not intentionally anyway, but having regular events like film nights, discos and maybe a game of (chocolate) bingo, could really bring us together as a school community, be fun for the kids AND raise money for the school to benefit our kids.
We look forward to meeting lots of you in September.
Have a great summer.
THANK YOU FRIENDS...
...in advance, for working with the School Council to plan the 2017 Summer Fayre. Everyone is so excited to see all the stalls and we hope the weather stays warm and sunny.
THANK YOU FRIENDS...
The school would like to thank our wonderful Friends of Blyton cum Laughton for organising the Christmas Fayre in December. With their incredible dedication, help and cooperation we managed to raise over £800 which will be used to provide break-time equipment across the two sites.
What a super partnership!
I had the pleasure of attending the first meeting of the Friends group on Friday 30th September. We discussed the Christmas season and the events that the school would be involved in. We have decided on two fundraising events. In the week leading up to the Laughton Church Christmas Fayre, children will bake and make products to sell on Saturday 3rd December. Later in the month, following the Christmas Service at Blyton Church on the 19th, we will hold our own Christmas Fayre at the Blyton site. In the week leading up to the Fayre, we will hold an Industry Week in which children will create a class business and eventually a product to sell.
It is important that the Friends of BcL have a goal to reach from a fundraising perspective - so I will be talking with staff and children to compile a wish list in the forthcoming weeks.
Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting and to those who are willing to support in the weeks and months ahead.
